Even though the new 3G iPhone will sell for quite cheap in the US (US$199 and US$299 for the 8GB and 16GB models respectively), I did not expect the prices in Singapore to fall as low. Yesterday’s Sunday Times carried an article that put the initial iPhone price in Singapore between S$500 and S$1000 (presumably ...

I’m looking at the new Nokia N97 flagship smartphone. It seema like a worthy upgrade replacement for my existing Nokia N95 8GB. For a Mac OS X user, a big question is if there is an iSync plugin available for the N97? Or an easy hack of an existing plugin to use with the N97?Related ...Related posts:Upcoming Nokia N97 I’ve been a Nokia Nseries smartphone user for …

A tower crane at the construction site of the new alumni house in NUS came crashing down this afternoon. It smashed through a walkway shelter and just missed a crowded bus stop and an internal shuttle bus. Heard there were some deaths. The place was crawling with police, campus security, reporters. Fire engines and ambulance ...

I just got around to upgrading the firmware on my Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router. At this time, the latest firmware is 1.00.02.10 (also shown as 1.00.02 B10). I decided to check out the firmware updates because the last two days I was having some random network connection problems through the WRT610N. Then, ...Related posts:Linksys WRT610N Dual Band …

I’ve been wanting to say this for the longest time. Since receiving this mass email this morning, I thought it might as well be now. SOME NUS STUDENTS ARE REALLY VERY STUPID! Does it make sense to leave a notebook out there in the open, walk away from it, and expect it to stay put ...

Last 5 Pings

My SGS2 is now back on Gingerbread, with the KL3 ROM released in December 2011. Suddenly realized it existed after having ICS on the phone for almost a week. KL3 has been pretty good so far. I can’t say yet the battery is better than when I had KI3 with the LP6 modem, but the proportion of time the ROM goes into deep-sleep is pretty good. Related posts: Domino’s …

It’s almost like Samsung is officially leaking out ROMs when the date of the next leak can be so accurately forecasted on the XDA forums. I’m not complaining, of course. The previous LP6 ROM was pretty good, mostly working, just some show stoppers for me. I was expecting that LPB would work out pretty well. So when the links to the LPB download started showing up, …

ROMs of the latest Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) have been leaking for the Samsung Galaxy S II (SGS2) for some time. The leaks started coming back in December. I’ve been tempted to try the ROMs, but some usability problems were reported, so I held back. I wanted a ROM that was mostly workable for daily use. The leaks continued to come, and right now, the latest …

The of the Water Dragon comes around tomorrow. It’s the 4709th Lunar New Year. Every Chinese family is probably now busy one way or other preparing for the new year. In fact, for many of them, various sorts of celebrations would already have started. I just had my first lao yu sheng and reunion meal at lunch, and will have another one at dinner tonight. This is the …
