In approaching this column I can't possibly explain how excited I was at the opportunity to officially set some of my time aside to watch all sorts of great Machinima from worlds around the Metaverse! I was surprised to find that the community of passionate, independent Machinimatographers was actually quite small in size, and those that seem to get the most attention are …

Virtual people, this is about Fightworlds, Fighting is gameworld's path to existence, it's religion for most of us. In virtual gameworlds you do not have to be right or wrong, you simply fight to be. Your creator never die as you, avatars, always rise, so does your adversary: it dies and rises with you following a binary resurrection cyle. Some say fighting is a form of art. …
Well, the New Year brings with it new things to see, obviously, and some new people, or rather, people who are new to me. They may have been around for a while and slipped under the radar, but, whatever, they are artists who's work I will be keeping an eye out for in the coming year(s). This smartly dressed person is Scottius Polke, whose piece, Vector Beehive I enjoyed a …
Greetings Koinup friends! Phaylen here! Some of you may know me from the machinima web series "DiVAS" while others may remember me from Virtual Big Brother or as the American Correspondent for the Italian production company Magnolia in their virtual production of Celebrity Survivor which aired in Italy, Germany and Japan on Rai.Due. Maybe you've listened to my Podcast or …

You have only to grab your Facebook upload email (the link works only if you're logged in FB) and paste it in your Koinup Account (same here, click if you're logged in Koinup). …
Tomorrow is a big day for Twinity, when Metaversum opens Miami Beach for all to see. Today I was able to take a look there, and I must say I am really impressed! Metaversum recreated a part of Miami Beach, mainly the areas around Lummus park and Ocean drive, including the beach of course. There's lots to do - funny animations hidden everywhere - and plenty to see as well. …

It's a common conundrum, especially in this era of the dreaded DMCA and take-down threats. Virtual filmmakers, for the most part (Like Me) are novices. We come to our chosen platforms with a simple goal: To tell a story. As often is the case, we have no money, no "networked" contacts, and no 30-piece orchestra waiting to score our latest outings. After a filmmaker takes on …
Happy New Year, dear Koinup readers. As we start on cusp of another New Year, I thought I might share with you some of my hopes and prediction for 2010 with regard to the Machinima industry. I'd love to see your own hopes and prediction for the coming year in the comments also. 2010 is full of promise for the world of Machinima. We are undeniably well into the technological …
The end of December marked not only the end of the year but a few Koinup contests wrapped up as well. First up was the Winter Fell Photo Contest I blogged about at the beginning of the month. 153 members submitted 113 entries for the judges review and oh my were they stellar. I wouldn't have wanted to have to choose. Photo by: Rudyn Carter The above piece is the first place …
One fascinating aspect of Twinity has always been it's mirror philosophy: "Twinity is a 3D mirror world based on real cities and real people." Second Life used to have the tag line "Your world, your imagination"; Twinity has "Powered by Real Life", which nicely captures the difference between the two. There are, however, small cracks in the mirror, situations where the real …
As far as I'm concerned, Twinity's main attraction has always been the ability to visit real world places in a virtual world. No need to hop on a plane, just load the client and teleport to London, Berlin or Singapore! And yet, to foster and sustain an in world community, this is not enough. After you have seen the famous buildings a few times, you may not return often - …
You won't find the words "killer app" in any marketing or promotion campaigns for Planet Cazmo but the virtual world targeted at teens and tweens just might be brewing a secret sauce with at least two killler ingredients - social spaces and mainstream music. Combine an American Idol all star line up (David Archuleta, Jordin Sparks and Allison Iraheta) with a dash of charity …
