So Brother no.2 and I went to the Unlimited Power seminar by the three "top" speakers you see smiling benevolently on the picture above. That's what the ticket looks like. The general ones (read: el-cheapo) cost $250 apiece, while VIP ones fall short of the four-digit mark by a few bucks. That's some serious quid to be shelling out to listen to three ang mohs …

It is heartening to see the increasing level of tech-savvy in the area of digital media creation today. Check out a similar vid satirising the ODEX saga that is currently still being played out.All this comes as a direct result of the increased emphasis on DMC in schools today, especially in the polytechnics (I've been to several polys to see their creations). It bodes well …

I think it is pertinent that I clear any misunderstanding regarding my decision to delete the blog post, in light of the attention it has received. One aim of that post had been met, since it had managed to put the spotlight onto the matter and set the gears of the media into motion: the story is now available here. However, the conspiracy theories that arise from my deletion …

I've been entertaining thoughts about dying for almost the whole of this week. More specifically, dying sweaty and dirty halfway through the triathlon (in my thoughts, I always pengsan at the running stage). For one, I didn't train much - unless you count carbo-loading, of which I believe I trained much, much harder than the rest of the competitors. Two, I caught the flu bug …

In the aftermath of Mother's Day, we see yet another example of a mother's love. And a big-time loser.A German woman has admitted driving her son to rob a jewellery shop so that she could make sure nothing bad happened to him.Daniela Langer, 36, from Dresden, told a court: "He was determined to do it and I could not talk him out of it, so I offered to drive him there...I was …

We are so used to having computers helping us do our dirty work that we forget that they can be really deadly buggers indeed. A 20-year-old student named Wu from Shanghai found out the hard way, when he was electrocuted to death by his PC. Trying to scrimp on air-con costs, he opened the external casing of the CPU to prevent it from overheating (which, by the way, doesn't …

Beer session on Sunday night with Don and JH at BarBar Black Sheep, and the conversation degenerates into what all drunk men talk about: religion. Amidst all the very deep and insightful points (of course) that the three of us made, one particular question that JH posed has been gnawing at me these past few days: What drives us to continue living? He was conveying the …

I'm getting familiar with my WACOM tablet now.Done in 10 min in Paint.NET. Granted it's a damn easy picture to draw, and the Sandman is arguably the most expressionless character outside of Terminator and Jay Chou, but the good thing is I've finally tamed the stylus not to fly all over the canvas. More to come!P.S. Be nice.

You've got to hand it to Dell's marketing team for (expensive) entertainment - they brutally destroy a perfectly good laptop to promote their own Dell Latitude XT tablet PC. Entertainment factor aside, the whole ad doesn't makes sense. Laptops can be sawn in half, so buy the Latitude XP? Huh? Does that mean the Latitude can handle the saw treatment? I doubt so.By the way, the …

What does a journalist, a lawyer and Chelsea's Premiership ambitions have in common?Simple: they're all going to hell. The stigma surrounding journalists has been going on forever, since the first caveman chose to draw the scandals of his fellow cave-dwellers on the walls instead of the usual ego-boosting fight scenes (and probably got thrown to the sabretooth tigers for his …

For me, watching a 2-hour ghost movie is worse than a 4-hour KTV session. I've torn countless sleeves belonging to friends unlucky enough to sit next to me at the cinema. Plus I have a two-week recovery period before I can sleep with the lights off again. My point is I'm not exactly John Constantine. But last week I watched this Korean horror movie about doll spirits. It's …

The Hostel Elite(tm)'s Korean steamboat BBQ treat at City Hall marked the 6th (free) buffet meal I've had in the past two weeks. I'll never forget the hostel days, working out at the gym, making friends with all the foreigners, and going through the patented Pakseng judoka training programme. Oh yes, and studying. It seems so long ago now, when we were still students with no …

For most people, the only thing stopping them from doing the things they really want - like splurging half their salary at Geylang - is the fear of being recognised while they're at it.Fear not: now with the new and aptly-named Stupidiotic Black Bar Glasses, anyone who wishes to remain incognito can. The catch is you'll look like something from a mugshot or an autopsy …
