After a 16-hour flight, in which I finished 5.25 movies and had a strange episode of fainting (almost) spell, I'm now blogging this at Terminal 5 of the Los Angeles airport. There's another 1.5 hours to go before I board the next plane to Atlanta, which will be followed by a final flight to Melbourne, Florida - where I'll be spending the next six weeks. *** The significant …

I want to believe. But these are the people who voted for George Bush. Twice. I need to believe. Because sometimes, hope is all that we have. The world awaits.

Been trying out the various chips and beverages they have in the supermarkets here. The photo above shows some of the stuff I've tried in the past week. Now you know why I hit the gym daily for an hour at least.

The beach is 10 minutes away by car, but because I don't drive it became a 2 hour walk. I have to say the beach's not worth the walk, but the babes definitely are. There's a lot of topless sunbathing going on, but unfortunately it's the face down kind.

What do I want? A little challenge. A few small victories. That certain look every now and again. To be in charge. To not always have to be. To own and be owned. To be needed but not shackled. To know someone went out of their way to make me happy. Someone by my side to either let me stand on my own or to lean on. Someone who puts more faith in the us as opposed to the me. …

I have served my last day as a nurse. It was a joy to help sick people, but unfortunately the joys were overshadowed by the crap (literally and figuratively) nurses have to endure every working day.Ultimately it is about respect, and because people in this country have no respect for healthcare workers, you will never see me donning a nursing uniform here again. There are …

Cheeks is no longer listed as 'single'.The timing is probably wrong because while I'm bumming around now, the significant other has audits at work and school projects to do. After she is done with those, a well-deserved holiday beckons for her. When she returns, I will be starting my new job. And then I'll be off to the US for a few weeks of training. It does not seem like …

The charts above, from Bloomberg, showed a remarkable similarity in the trading patterns of various stock markets on 21 Jan 2008. Must be very interesting to academics.I'm betting 1 cent that the worst is yet to come. This financial crisis will be like the biblical Great Flood, and is meant to wipe out a lot of greed. The good thing is that everyone has a personal ark to save …

On my way to the beach, I  popped into this shop in the historic downtown Melbourne precinct which sells gourmet popcorn + fudge + ice cream + shaved ice: They had a lot of flavours of popcorns to choose from: A close up look at two of the flavours: 'Fudge' in the USA is usually understood to be chocolate. Here are some of the seemingly delectable ones: …

From Shall We Dance:All these promises that we make and we break... why is it that you think people get married? Because we need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... …

I meant to try out a seafood place yesterday, but because there was such a long queue I gave it a miss. I went next door instead, to a barbeque and grill restaurant called Smokey Bones. Smokey Bones seems to be sports bar kind of place, and prides itself on doing tasty ribs. I don't really fancy ribs however, and decided to order a sirloin steak (at USD$12.18): It was …

That's how the people in Chengdu pronounce Leopard in Chinese. As in OS X Leopard. No kidding. We tried our very best to keep a straight face when the salesperson said: "Dui bu qi, wo men mei you lam par."Juvenile and corny, I know. But funny nonetheless.

I've been having recurrent flashbacks of memories about the ex.I could be walking to the convenient store, waiting for the train to arrive, watching a DVD or something, and suddenly an image, a memory of her, will pop up and I would be left reminiscing about that particular set of memories from days gone by.A sense of emptiness would radiate down my chest to my abdomen, and …
