Soon enough, Singapore skaters will have a second rink to skate in! Kallang Ice World plans to open in mid-Oct, in the brand new Leisure Park Kallang. The date has been set but as far as I know it has not yet been announced yet, so I suppose I won't tell right now. The ice surface at Kallang Ice World is slightly larger than the current Fuji Ice Palace. Really, it is not much …

I went to Kallang Ice World on Thursday. Just wanted to check it out - I wasn't even sure if I'd feel like skating, though I did bring my skates along. When I got there, I realised that they had this whole system going, and I had to get one of the free tickets to even go in. Heck, I had taken a ticket already, I might as well skate! The rink looked cheerful. It was brightly …

When I got pregnant, I wondered how long into pregnancy I would be able to skate. Not long after that, I wondered how I would get back to skating after the baby! So now, my baby is 9 months old. Here's a quick look back... 6 weeks post I went back to skate for the first time after baby. My legs felt like jelly, and my balance seemed waay off! I managed some upright spins, and …

This is what the SISA website looks like on one of the browsers I use (click to see larger image): Flash has given designers the ability to include superior animation in a website. It has become such a fad that it seems almost all websites will use flash to some extent - and you won't even notice it until you're hit with blank screens or annoying messages constantly asking …

Competition is this weekend! The schedule is as follows (click on image to view larger version)... This is the most unprepared I have ever been for any competition. Seriously, even comparing to the pairs program that we made up last-minute, I feel less confident about this... Or maybe I felt better about the pairs because I had a partner!

The Beijing Olympics opened last weekend, and by now is already halfway through. (yeah, I'm a bit behind on this, huh?!) I read with dismay the Straits Times report "Freeze on winter Olympic sports" Plans to introduce four winter Olympic sports to Singaporeans have been put on ice. This follows the news that CapitaMall Trustbuild will hold back its plans to add an Olympic-sized ice skating rink at Jurong Entertainment Centre. The 20m by 40m rink at Jurong Entertainment Centre's Fuji …

A couple of days ago, we chanced upon SanSkruti while looking for a place for lunch. It is an Indian vegetarian restaurant on Race Course Lane, and what caught my eye was that it served Gujurati cuisine. After looking through the menu, we decied to have the buffet, as it would allow us to taste a variety of dishes. The dishes were pretty good, and prepared Gujurati style. …

On Sunday, we had a little "family outing" to the rink, and I decided to put my baby on the ice - at barely 14 months! I wonder, does that make her the youngest baby to be on the ice in skates? She protested a little when I first put the skates on her feet, and it took some time before I finally got both skates on. This is her first time, and she has only just …

Some years ago, I was dealing with lower back pain, and an X-ray showed that I had an "old fracture" in the spine. However that did not stop me from skating, and the problem seems to be under control right now. Today, I came across an article that bed rest is no longer the best option for back pain... Low back pain is one of the most common reasons for consulting a …
