Another great thing about Hirafu is night boarding! If you bought yourself the full-day ski pass, it includes the permit to ski/snowboard at night! Once the sun sets, flood lights fill the white slopes and shoos away the crowds. You’re left with huge amount of unobstructed play area to master linking your turns!

Us moving house meant a huge garage sale was in order. The attic was cleared of all it’s treasures. Some were packed up in boxes to be moved to the new place, and some were reluctantly priced by my hoard-er of a mum. It was pretty easy to price things, until we came across the ...

Back to the Japan Niseko posts, by the third day, we were feeling more confident and decided to venture higher up the peak. Morning ritual: I’d be the first one to get out of bed. So I’ll sneak out quietly to wash up without waking drea, and prepare some brekkie and hot water for the ...

2 years back I did a fun little poll on when Julian’s birth date was. Let’s do something different for now. BABY NAMES! Jie Jie and Kevin are debating all sorts of names for baby #2 due in February. Irish, Jewish, unusual, common, long, short. The ones I liked were: Liam, Benjamin, Jamie, Jared, Oliver. ...

Was invited to a blogger’s event this week by BBC.com for the launch of their new travel site in partnership with its sister company Lonely Planet. It was an intimate dinner with just 5 bloggers, Dunbar Jones and the BBC folks at South bridge Jazz@7ATENINE. A great sharing session on technology, website user experience and ...

Final post for Shanghai is about my last night there. After all the press activities circulating the HSBC-Men’s Champions, I wanted to have 1 night out to experience the Shanghai nightlife. Adrian was spinning at Monkey Lounge/Bar so he asked me to drop by and check it out. Another friend forewarned that the crowd is ...

You can’t go to Shanghai and not have Xiao Long Bao! Actually you can… Din Tai Fung is pretty damn good. Adrian suggested this hole in the wall place in the French concession. I can’t remember the name of the place, but when I do, I’ll update this post. He said the crabmeat Xiao Long ...

What a strange name. I wasn’t sure if people were saying Bund, Band or Bun! The Bund is a stretch of buildings on a road which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River. It sits between Baidu Bridge and JinLin East Road. The embankment has a 771-metre long wall built for flood control. ...
