Occupying the Bird's Head Peninsula at the west part of New Guinea Island, West Papua Island was officially established as separated province in 18 April 2007. Manokwari is capital of this province relatively have similarity as of Papua Province. West Papua province covers area of 97,024.27 km2 wide. Foot of mountain straight touches the coastal line in many part of this province create beautiful scenery. Wide swamp area is also found in several places. The province is surrounded by Pacific Ocean, Sea of Seram, Halmahera Province in the east. Most of the population depends on subsistence farming, especially the cultivation of sago palm, tubers, and maize. Whereas, fishery sector produce oyster, crabs, and shrimp. Deposits of oil and gas are found in Bintuni Gulf, Salawati and Misool Island.
