Speech Recognition

I mentioned the Rosetta Stone course in my previous post. One of the great features of the software is it's Speech Recognition. It prompts you to pronounce a word or sentence and gives an indication of how close your pronunciation actually is.Here's a screen shot looking at the speech recognition screen. The top graph is the recorded native speakers voice and the bottom graph is the end users voice. There are various graphs to look at and the one below lets me compare the tone of the speaker with my own.I did have one technical hitch. I'm using a Macbook Air (OS X 10.5) and I was trying to use the built in microphone. When I set the input level to 50% it works perfectly. However, the input level is being automatically adjusted up much higher and distorts my voice so the speech recognition stops working. It looks like I'm not the only one with this problem as I found the following thread on the apple discussion forums.In the end, I decided to buy a headset microphone which doesn't distort when the input level
