SINGAPORE MAN USES TWITTER TO HELP A POTENTIAL SUICIDE VICTIM LIVING IN FLORIDA
On my twitter feed I follow a guy who goes by the alias of Coffeecup. He's studying psychology and according to his twitter reports he just helped save the life of a guy preparing to commit suicide. Coffecup's profile reveals that he lives in Singapore. The man that he was helping lives in Florida.I am thankful that this man was able to get help, but it also causes me to ask some scary questions. If some anonymous, mentally ill stranger approaches you online and needs serious help, what are our responsibilities toward that person? What does the (international) law require us to do? What does God expect of us? Another question that is also of interest: How many times has Twitter been used to help deliver medical help? Could this be a first?Coffecup's Twitter FeedLink
