Roy Keane quits Sunderland

Roy Keane resigned as manager of Sunderland! This was quite a shocking news to me as I always thought Roy Keane was doing fine as the manager of Sunderland. Roy Keane took charge of the Black Cats two seasons ago. Back then, Sunderland was at the bottom of the Championship league table and when Roy Keane took over, he made an immediate impact. Sunderland eventually won the Championship and earned promotion to the Premier League.Keane then brought in quite a number of established players in his second season in charge, including Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon. Under Keane's management, Sunderland avoided relegation and finished 15th in the Premier League. The start of this season is perhaps the main reason to why Keane made his premature exit. Sunderland couldn't find their momentum and that saw them lying in 18th place after 5 defeats out of 6 games. And the recent 4-1 crushing defeat against Bolton could be the catalyst to Keane's resignation.Keane's stats in charge of Sunderland:Played: 100Won: 42Lost: 41
