Reflections of Field Camp
Before the field camp, commanders said that it is the time when people can see others’ true characters beneath their skins. To paraphrase one of the commanders, “Many would be super tired from digging drainage for the bashas, or from the shell scrap, and it was then when most would just think for themselves, or so to speak.” However, for me, 6 days out in the field made me realize who I am and how much I need to improve myself, as a person and as a soldier, more than who others are and their bad points. In the 6 days, I learnt myself as a kid who did not think much and had the mentality of “If I know these, then the others also know these”. I assumed that my buddy knew about the stripes of clothes that are supposed to be part of the rifle cleaning kit. I assumed that he knew that he needed to bring ear plugs with him for the Battle Inoculation Course.
