Raspberry and Cheese

Even though I hadn't wanted to be at the centre of attention, I'm glad I organised something with friends and family and had lots of fun. Birthdays aren't special to me—they're just another day despite the weird feeling of seeing my birthdate everywhere: wall clocks, online messageboards, receipts. The numerical sequence is so familiar yet mechanical. The conflict of believing in something special happening; the irony of a special day every day, around the world; yet it's just another day, another twenty-four hours to get through. I will never utter "nobody loves me", because they do ... I do, too. Thank you for your happy wishes.
