Random Friday Music: Simian Mobile Disco.
Simian Mobile Disco was formed from the ashes of the now-defunct electro-rock band Simian in 2005. More famous for their remixes of other artists like Muse and Klaxons, one wouldn't really expect all that much from a full album from these guys. So it was quite a surprise that Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release more than delivers. Though it is 'dance' music, none of the ten tracks veer over the 5-minute mark, adding a pop-like sensibility, much like Daft Punk's releases. There, I just did it — I bravely bracketed SMD's excellent studio album with the distinguished cult of Daft Punk.
