Having been a nurse for some time now, it pisses me no end whenever a patient's relative request the doctors and the nurses not to disclose the patient's diagnosis to him/her.I mean, who gave these buggers the right to do that? Imagine you are the patient. Do you want your sons and daughters to say that to your doctors and decide on your treatment on your behalf? Just because they think you might not be able to take the news?Give the patient some credit, for goodness sake. For all you know, the news might liberate them.The next time you want to decide on behalf of the patient, show us the power of attorney. Because the patient has rights, and it's time you start to respect those rights.
