Everyday thousands of songs are being written, of which just a few make it into mainstream media, and out of those, even fewer make it as hits. Ever so often it's not the quality of the song which gets it there, but simply good timing and luck. Just think Justin Bieber's Baby. Ohmygee. How did something like that ever get so famous. Breaking it down, 1. Follow me here: Care, there. Heart, apart. Playing, saying. If there were a Bieber school of songwriting*, the course would probably be about 15 minutes long, with a handout titled "predictable rhymes" 2. There are terribly few words in the song. The chorus has a grand total of 12 different words, if you count ohhhh as a word... And if i'm not wrong, the longest word in the song is playground. Not that it means anything of course..... 3. There is a black man rapping. Need I say more? Seriously. I should try that formula out. But first i need to find the bieber school of songwriting.
