Moo Soon Chong

The founding principal of Singapore’s Sports School, Mr Moo Soon Chong passed away early yesterday morning at the age of 63, after battling with cancer for about 2 years, leaving behind his wife, two sons in their thirties and grandchildren. Before heading the Singapore’s Sports School, Mr Moo was the principal of Anglican High School from 1983 till early 2000s. During the early 1990s, Mr Moo started two sports classes in each of the secondary school levels in his school. These sports class provided a curriculum which allowed students in these classes to attend their sports and physical training lessons in Anglican High School’s three core sports: badminton, table tennis and basketball while not compromising their studies. It has always been Mr Moo’s belief of balancing sports and studies in grooming Singapore young sports talent which led to the blossoming of Singapore’s first sports school where he became the founding principal.
