Is online banner ads effective?
When it comes to finding specific information, search engines do a great job. For most people, Google is the answer when it comes to this aspect.Do people actually click on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button?But what about the times when you are not looking for anything in particular? When you are just randomly consuming whatever is out there, what gets your attention to explore more? Most of the time my starting point is in content sites like portals and blogs. Textual links that are referenced in the content sites are effective in getting me want to click on them to find out more. On the other hand, online banner ads even though they could be very attractive, most of the time they are not seductive enough for me to click on them. The current trend is towards displaying more targeted and relevant ads for the visitors. However it is not exactly clear that this approach is much more effective.
