Hainanese Kaya
Hainanese Kaya with Honey Kaya is a traditional egg jam made from a mixture of coconut and eggs. Kaya has its origins from Malaysia and Singapore. It is a very popular local breakfast spread because of its unique taste... We remember how we always start the day with kaya and butter before going to school and sometimes coupled with soft-boiled eggs and a cup of Milo. Back then, coffee weren't our favourite drink as we were still young and loving our Milo with condensed milk. We believe Hainanese Kaya origins from Singapore but many debate how it came from Malaysia as well. Anyway, Hainanese is located around the globe and mostly in Malaysia & Singapore. When I was young, my nanny always made her own simple recipe of kaya. She always passed some to mum and we will have our own kaya every morning. I love her kaya and many other dishes she made for us, of course. I haven't get the chance to made my own kaya but I am so happy to find this Hainanese Kaya with Honey in the Asian market in Melbourne!
