We usually refer to Penang Island, Malaysia whenever we ’re looking for some good cheap eats. Food that is very authentic and very affordable that you can’t get it anywhere with that combo, anymore. I do love the authentic food in Penang such as their most popular and on-demand asam laksa, char kuey teow (with prawn as big as your eyes), rojak and etc. Anyway, I do see some changes right now compared to the last visit many years ago in Penang. Prices have increased and the normally big prawn has reduced in number as well. Plus, you’ll see people hiring maid/helper/migrant to cook in their stalls whilst the actual owner does the ordering around. So I often ask how one can actually hand-over such a tedious and vital task to someone they hired from other country, and would it taste the same anymore?
