Fei Fei Wanton Mee - Where is the sauce???
Joo Chiat, the place for food and um... visual entertainment. It was a Saturday night and we decided to head there for dinner. We reached Joo Chiat Place and walked down to this famous Fei Fei Wanton Mee. There were signs indicating that it was serving top notch food. According to a 1993 New Paper article, the stall has been passed down for more than 3 generations, and their specialty is hand made noodles. Our orders came in just 5 minutes and the moment I looked at it, I felt there was something missing. Thinking that this could be the original way of eating it, I decided to give it a try.The noodle texture tasted dry, and there was just abit of oil, garnishes and chilli buried underneath it. Mixing the whole bowl didn't do much good either. In fact, I think they added some MSG as I could taste something salty. Also, there was no small bowl of soup that could save the noodle. The wanton was minuscule and tasted average. We had enough. I didn't even finish my bowl and was disappointed.Overall the noodle is dry
