The provincial capital is Kupang, located in the south side of Timor Island. Among peoples of this province are Ngada, Larantuka, Ende, Sikka, Manggarai, Belu, Kemah, Dawan and Sumba tribe. Total area of this province is 48,718.10 km2. Highland stretches at the center part, and lowland stretches along the coastal area. The province is surrounded by Flores Sea in the north, Indian Ocean in the south, Arafuru Sea in the east and and Safe Strait in the west side. The economy of East Nusa Tenggara is contributed by fishery sector. The fishery products are cakalang, tongkol, kerapu, crab and tenggiri. East Nusa Tenggara waters also have potential in producing pearl and sea weeds.
