The overall crime rate last year hit a 20-year record low, the Police said at a press conference this morning. There were 31,404 cases in total last year, down 5.3 per cent from 2010. The drop resulted from fewer crimes in four categories of crime, namely violent property crime, housebreaking, theft and crimes against persons. The Police added that robberies, housebreaking and murders were also at 20-year low levels. Loansharking harassment cases also fell 24 per cent.
