A tinge of Aussie back home
Yesterday I took a trip down to the newest IKEA store in town, the one located in Tampines… and I quite like it.The parking is free and the place is gigantic. It reminded me of the times in Australia where something like this pops out in the middle of nowhere, located in a suburb where land is probably cheap. Stores that are actually warehouses, like Woolworths supermarket, IKEA Brisbane and OfficeWorks.Back to the topic at hand, inside IKEA Tampines you’ve got the usual furniture stuff but the key feature is the pickup point - rows and rows of furniture stacked from floor to ceiling just like the one Down Under. Looking out of the place, you see blue skies, more warehouses and plain roads. If feels nostalgic and yet so out of place since you realise you are actually in space-constrained Singapore.I realised that I much prefer the open skies, fresh air, recreational ethic and manners of the Aussies. If I had a chance to work there, I guess it wouldn’t take me too long to decide.I would
