I "celebrate" the passing of my embarrassing adolescence today. I use "celebrate" in the widest sense because I do not feel celebratory at all and would rather stay home, a grumpy woman (ooh, I'm a wo-man now!) in her ratty PJs eating wasabi peas, watching Ellen and Oprah back to back. What, don't women do this all the time, eating comfort food and watching feminist television? I feel exactly the same as I did a day before, only that I'm a year older, supposedly wiser. Despite my obvious ageing process, I still feel like a child when my mother and I speak on the phone. Some things never change.
