'Anti-PAP government', not 'anti-government'

I'm reproducing my comment on Yawning Bread's post because I think it's important for all of us to be educated about this. As Mr Brown has so astutely pointed out to us, the media has a lot of power in terms of how our thoughts are shaped. Hence, let's be responsible in how we use our words. Please use the term 'anti-PAP government' instead of 'anti-government' from now on. There are two reasons for my humble request: I assume most people – yourself included – use 'anti-government' to mean opposing the actions, beliefs, values, etc. carried out or held by the current government of a country. But it also holds connotations of negativity i.e. the phrase can be misinterpreted or misused to paint a picture of people who are against any form of government whatsoever. I’m sure you know how dangerous this is, especially in Singapore, where people enjoy taking words at face value. 'Anti-government' is really a misnomer in itself; the people are against a PAP-dominated government and its associated disad
