1. Abraham, who lied about his relationship with wife Sarah and gave her to adultery to save his life.
2. Jacob, who cheated his brother Esau of his heritage and deceived his father Isaac into giving him the first son's blessings.
3. Tamar, who “pretended” to be a prostitute and bore a child by her father-in-law Judah through sin and incest.
4. Rahab, a prostitute, who became mother of Boaz.
5. David, the king who has God's favor, who committed adultery with the wife of one of his loyal subjects and shortly after, murdered this poor man in spite of his loyalty to David.
6. Bathsheba, an adulteress who became mother of one of the greatest and wisest king in history.
7. A lineage of faithful kings of character, all of whom struggled with sin, unfaithfulness to God and country, and were not perfect, as well as those who were as bad as can be—even unspeakably evil.
Bottomline: We are all sinners. And God can do wonders through us, even though we are sinners. "...all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
